This question isn't really important, just something I've been wondering.
From what I understand (which isn't much), moving the process priority up allocates more time for the CPU to operate on that process. Dedicates more cycles to a particular program, for lack of a better definition. So if I'm watching a video or playing a game and I move the priority to Above Normal or even High, why is there no noticable effect?
I guess one explanation could be that those aforementioned don't really rely on the CPU as much as I'd thought (instead they rely on GPU, bus speeds, etc.). Have I missed the bus on this one?
For example, if you are not able to access a high graphics intensive game or if the game crashes in the middle then probably you need to open Task Manager and assign real-time or high priority to the processes in order to play the game without crashing or lagging issues. But again you will not be able to assign high priority to any process. Heaps are used to implement a priority queue where priority is based on the order of heap created. Systems concerned with security and embedded system such as Linux Kernel uses Heap Sort because of the O( n log(n) ). If we are stuck in finding the K th smallest (or largest) value of a number then heaps can solve the problem in an easy and fast.

It really bugs me, and I have heard that setting BF4 priority to high gives it a good boost, and have more CPU time. I am wondering, is it safe to set priority to realtime? I have played even the most modern games in this rig, which is about 6-7 years old. Basic specs: CPU: Pentium E5700. The difference is the one app is getting more CPU time than the other. You sounds gets crappy cause the CPU is spending more time with the main program, sound is second on when playing a game so it drops in priority. I remember at one time there was a benefit to changing it but now that there is more inside of windows and a lot. Why on earth would anyone want to run a game with real-time priority? If anything, above normal should be the highest you go, unless you want your system to lock up. Because the game is stuttering for people and this is the only known workaround until the devs patch it.

That Roadmap is now up, with a clear 'TOP Priority Roadmap' section that has both Linux and macOS support. When you actually go onto it, the expanded details do make it clear that both platforms were given careful thought when they started working on the game. The Linux version is almost there and they're hoping to have both up in a few weeks.
